The KDE team has released Plasma 6.6.4, the fourth bugfix update in the Plasma 6.6 series.

A significant portion of the updates in Plasma 6.6.4 centers around KWin, KDE’s window manager. This release brings numerous fixes related to Wayland functionality, Xwayland scaling, pointer alignment, accessibility keyboard input, startup feedback visuals, blur effects, direct scanout, along with several crash fixes and graphical improvements.

Beyond KWin, multiple enhancements have been made across Plasma Desktop and Plasma Workspace. These include refinements to Kickoff and Kicker launchers, smoother drag-and-drop behavior for desktop icons, better handling of shortcut conflicts, improved recent applications data, and fixes for system tray context menus. Additional improvements address digital clock clipboard actions, wallpaper selection, panel stability issues, and device notification handling.

Spectacle, KDE’s screenshot utility, now includes a workaround for behavior introduced in Qt 6.11, while layer-shell-qt resolves a related crash issue. The Discover software center benefits from a more robust internal transaction system, and the Dr Konqi crash handler improves coredump thread naming and backtrace generation.

Additional stability fixes have been applied to Print Manager, while Plasma NetworkManager corrects the “Last used” status refresh after disconnections.

The update also enhances visual consistency and scaling. The Oxygen theme fixes pixelated window buttons, missing menu shadows, tooltip shadow detachment under fractional scaling in Wayland, and panel theme inconsistencies. Meanwhile, the Breeze theme resolves an icon rendering issue, and Plasma Integration corrects font handling with Qt 6.11 along with a system tray menu bug.

Finally, improvements extend to core components such as the on-screen keyboard, browser integration, and libraries like libplasma, libksysguard, libkscreen, kpipewire, qqc2-breeze-style, and Plasma Vault. These updates fix issues ranging from predictive text handling and UTF-8 length calculations to plugin loading, GPU graph scaling, an NVIDIA SMI process leak, recording behavior in kpipewire, and tooltip binding loops.

For more details, see the release announcement or check out the full changelog. The next update, Plasma 6.6.5, is scheduled for May 12.
