KDE Plasma 6.7 to Introduce Rounded Highlights

Following the release of Plasma 6.6, developers at KDE have already shifted focus toward Plasma 6.7, bringing a mix of visual refinements and usability improvements. One of the most noticeable updates appears in the Breeze theme, where selection highlights in QtWidgets-based applications like file managers, document viewers, and mail clients are becoming more rounded.
Until now, these applications used sharper highlight shapes compared to the smoother visuals found in QtQuick-based components. The new design brings both styles into alignment, matching the rounded highlights already present in menus and modern interface elements. This change not only improves visual consistency across the desktop but also lays groundwork for the upcoming Union styling system, KDE’s evolving internal theming framework.

Networking configuration is also getting attention. The OpenVPN setup interface now exposes a wider range of backend options, giving users more control over connection parameters. In addition, the previous separation between “Wi-Fi” and “Wi-Fi Security” tabs has been removed, consolidating everything into a single configuration page to simplify the workflow.
System Settings introduces a small but practical enhancement as well. The Application Permissions section now includes a control to instantly terminate all active screen-casting sessions, eliminating the need to close them one by one. Meanwhile, the Kickoff application launcher provides clearer feedback when you add an app to favorites by briefly highlighting the Favorites section, and notification messages have received refreshed wording and icons for better clarity.
Localization features are expanding too. Plasma 6.7 adds support for the Vietnamese lunar calendar in the Digital Clock widget, broadening cultural and regional customization options for users.
Although Plasma 6.7 is still under development and more changes are expected before release, the current focus hasn’t shifted entirely away from the 6.6 branch. Several maintenance updates remain planned for that series, continuing through version 6.6.6. The latest available release is 6.6.1, with 6.6.2 scheduled to arrive on March 3.
