Bottles 62.0 Adds Dynamic Launcher Portal Support

Bottles 62.0 Adds Dynamic Launcher Portal Support

Bottles, the open-source application built on Wine that makes it easy to run Windows apps and games on Linux through a streamlined graphical interface, has introduced version 62.0 with several important improvements.

One of the main fixes enhances GPU detection for hardware identified as “Display controller.” In previous versions, some graphics devices in this category were not recognized correctly. With 62.0, detection has been improved, increasing compatibility across a wider range of systems.

The update also introduces support for the Dynamic Launcher portal. This feature allows sandboxed apps to create and manage application launchers (.desktop files) directly on the host system, delivering better desktop integration—particularly for Flatpak users.

For Flatpak development builds, the release restores proper functionality to the bottles-cli tool, resolving command-line issues that affected development environments.

On the usability front, backup and restore operations now display visible progress indicators, providing clearer feedback while tasks are running.

Additional improvements include support for adding valid system environment variable names without validation errors and a fix for the recurring daily donation prompt issue.

For gamers, FSR handling has been refined. Wine-level FSR has been removed, and FSR is now enabled only when running under Gamescope, ensuring more consistent behavior.

As with every release, updated translations are included. For a complete breakdown of changes, check the project’s changelog on GitHub.
