OpenRazer 3.12 Expands Linux Support for Razer Devices
19views

The OpenRazer project has released version 3.12, bringing expanded hardware compatibility and several improvements. OpenRazer is an open-source driver and background service that allows Razer peripherals to work properly on Linux, enabling features such as RGB lighting customization, device configuration, and other hardware-specific capabilities that are typically unavailable without official vendor software.

This release introduces support for several additional Razer devices, including:

  • Razer BlackWidow V4 Tenkeyless HyperSpeed
  • Razer Mouse Dock Pro
  • Razer Huntsman V3 Pro 8KHz
  • Razer Kraken Tournament Edition
  • Razer Huntsman V3 Pro Mini
  • Razer Tartarus Pro

Beyond new hardware compatibility, version 3.12 also delivers various bug fixes and code improvements. The Python library used by the project has undergone cleanup and enhanced typing support, which may affect programs that interact with the pylib interface.

Several device-related issues have been resolved as well. For example, the update corrects a problem affecting the Razer Blade 14 (2021), where the starlight lighting effect did not properly follow the configured color and speed settings. Another fix addresses a kernel warning that occurred when reporting the device type of the Razer BlackWidow V4 75% keyboard.

Additional enhancements include adding horizontal scroll support for the Razer Pro Click V2 mouse and enabling REL_HWHEEL functionality for the Razer Naga Epic Chroma. The release also resolves an issue with the game mode LED on the Razer Huntsman V3 Pro TKL and corrects the polling rate configuration for the Razer DeathAdder V4 Pro.

The OpenRazer daemon itself has also been updated so that devices automatically resume their normal state when the service stops.

Users interested in verifying device compatibility can check the official OpenRazer website. A complete overview of changes and fixes included in version 3.12 is available in the project’s changelog.
