Origami Linux Leaves Beta With First Stable Snapshot Release 2026.03

Origami Linux, the immutable Fedora Atomic-based distro featuring the COSMIC desktop, has officially graduated from beta with its first stable release: v2026.03. This milestone also ushers in a brand-new release approach for the project.

Previously, Origami Linux relied on continuously updated installation images produced by its automated build pipeline. Now, the developers are switching to a rolling snapshot model, where ISO images are published periodically to represent tested, stable points in time—perfect for fresh installations or newcomers.

Version numbers will follow a simple Year.Month format, making updates easy to track. Existing users don’t need to reinstall: if your system is up to date, you’re already running the 2026.03 state.

Under the hood, Origami Linux continues to rely on a Fedora 43 Atomic base, ensuring the core system remains immutable and protected from accidental changes. The 2026.03 release comes with COSMIC Desktop 1.0.8, providing a polished, modern user interface.

Performance gets a boost too. The release ships with the CachyOS 6.19.3 kernel, compiled with Link-Time Optimization for faster execution, smarter scheduling, and a more responsive desktop experience.
