Plasma 6.7 Set to Bring KWin Performance Fixes and UI Refinements

Plasma 6.6 launches next Tuesday, February 17, while KDE developers continue progress on version 6.7, with early feature information now emerging.
System Settings receives organizational improvements, relocating the “Remote Desktop” page to the “Security & Privacy” category. The Disks & Devices widget now manages loop devices more reliably, providing consistent behavior for mounted images.
Wallpaper previews displaying light and dark variants now exhibit smoother rendering in the split preview effect, reducing visual artifacts. The Kicker Application Menu gains support for non-square panel icons, aligning with capabilities already present in Kickoff.
A new global window management action enables users to untile quick-tiled windows. Though no default keyboard shortcut exists, users can configure one through settings. Plasma 6.7 introduces a customizable delay for the window switcher, allowing adjustment of how long Alt+Tab must be pressed before the interface displays.
For the login experience, SDDM theme videos now support direct preview within System Settings, while KWin dialogs receive visual refinements.
A KWin bug causing compositor-created scrollable views to function at diminished speed has been corrected. Although this issue impacted only specific views, the fix restores proper responsiveness and facilitates future development, particularly enabling scroll-based virtual desktop switching in the Overview effect.
