About a month after the previous update, the KDE community has delivered KDE Gear 25.12.3, the third maintenance release in the 25.12 series. While it’s not a feature-heavy update, it focuses on polishing the experience across many KDE applications by resolving bugs and improving stability.

One of the biggest beneficiaries of this update is Kdenlive, KDE’s powerful video editing tool. The new release addresses several issues affecting the timeline, audio scrubbing, preview updates, and clip handling. Developers also resolved a number of crashes and memory-related problems while refining ripple editing and fullscreen keyboard shortcuts. Importing multistream clips is now smoother, and the Whisper plugin installer has been updated to work with Python 3.14.

The popular Kate editor also sees improvements. The update aligns it with recent KTextEditor changes, improves how multiple instances are loaded, and fixes file-tree behavior when document names change. Additionally, macOS users retain their familiar fullscreen shortcut, and a few document view issues have been corrected.

Connectivity tools receive attention as well. KDE Connect fixes a bug where clicking on a plugin row didn’t properly enable or disable it. File-sharing also becomes more accurate with corrected modification timestamps, and the Plasma widget’s Share dialog is now non-modal, making the interface easier to use.

Communication and social apps also benefit from the update. NeoChat resolves multiple issues affecting message timelines, room sorting, emoji editor rendering, and room list scrolling. Meanwhile, Tokodon fixes account-switching problems after unsuccessful logins and improves alt-text handling for media attachments.

The personal information manager Merkuro receives several calendar-related fixes, including improvements to “Show all” and “Hide all” controls, better date validation, and a resolved crash that could occur while creating or editing calendar entries.

In the multimedia department, Dragon Player fixes an issue related to its media engine management. Podcast fans using Kasts will notice that episode lists now refresh properly after removing a feed.

Behind the scenes, libraries and backend components also get attention. Kitinerary improves its ability to parse travel confirmations, adding better support for messages from platforms like Booking.com and Hostelworld, as well as ferry bookings from Algeciras.

Document viewer Okular introduces a workaround for compatibility issues with newer versions of Poppler, while the Calligra project resolves RTF encoding problems and fixes build issues related to Poppler 26.02.

Like other KDE Gear updates, this release touches many additional utilities maintained within the KDE ecosystem, including Umbrello, KRDC, KAlarm, and Koko, each receiving smaller bug fixes and refinements.

The updated applications are expected to appear soon on distribution repositories, as well as on platforms like Flathub and the Snap Store. Users of rolling-release Linux distributions will likely see the new versions land in their system updates over the coming days.
