Today we are sharing with you another new product from the American company Alt-N (the same manufacturer of MDaemon). This is the company’s Email Gateway product.
Email Gateway software usually provides you with features such as security, antivirus, antispam, statistics, applying organizational policies, etc. to the emails that are sent/received.
If you are comfortable and familiar with MDaemon (especially its WebAdmin), you will probably find these products very comfortable and familiar to work with.
Its installation is very similar to MDaemon, the method is included in the Readme file.

Key protections include:
- Multi-layered anti-spam filtering (heuristics, Bayesian, DNS/URI blocklists, greylisting, etc.)
- Anti-virus scanning with built-in engines (e.g., ClamAV) and outbreak-protection support to block malicious attachments and malware. MDaemon+2Data Security Expert+2

What’s New (v11.x) — Modern Enhancements & Better Integration
With the 11.x series, SecurityGateway has received major updates and enhancements aimed at modern email security needs.
🔄 Updated Database Backend
- The built-in database has been upgraded to Firebird 5.0. The installer automatically converts existing databases during upgrades, with a backup stored before conversion — ensuring data integrity and compatibility.
🤖 AI-Powered Classification (optional, depending on configuration)
- SecurityGateway now includes an AI Classification feature. Administrators can configure AI models (e.g. OpenAI / ChatGPT, or custom API endpoints) to analyze email content and classify messages according to defined criteria. Based on classifications, you can trigger custom actions — for example: phishing detection, PII filtering, or custom routing/quarantine.
🔐 Modern Authentication & OAuth Integration
- For domains using Microsoft 365 / Exchange / cloud-backed accounts, user verification sources now support OAuth (Authorization Code Flow), enabling more secure login (potentially with MFA) into the SecurityGateway management UI.
📊 Enhanced Admin Dashboard & Usability Improvements
- Customizable dashboard charts that allow drill-down into message log entries directly. Help Altn
- Better sorting (e.g. IP addresses in logs now properly sorted by numeric octets) and UI refinements for managing users, passwords, and domain settings. Help Altn
- HTTP/1.1 keep-alive and gzip content encoding improvements for the web interface server — yielding smoother UI performance.
