System76’s New Pangolin Pro Brings Ryzen AI Power to a 3.64 lb Linux Laptop

System76 has unveiled the Pangolin Pro, a 16-inch Linux laptop designed to deliver strong performance in a portable form factor. It comes preloaded with either Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS featuring the COSMIC desktop or Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, with official optimization for both and support for dual-boot or other Linux installations.
At its core, the laptop is powered by the 8-core, 16-thread Ryzen AI 7 350 processor paired with integrated Radeon 860M graphics, targeting users who want capable hardware without sacrificing mobility. It supports up to 96 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM and offers dual PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots, allowing storage expansion up to 16 TB.

The Pangolin Pro features a 16-inch matte display with a 2560×1600 resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio, and full sRGB color coverage. Despite its performance focus, it remains relatively lightweight at 3.64 pounds and includes an 80 Wh battery rated for up to 10 hours of use.
A standout feature is OCuLink support, enabling connection to external GPUs for additional performance. The laptop also offers a wide range of ports, including USB4 Type-C, an additional USB-C port, three USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1, a microSD card reader, and 2.5Gb Ethernet—minimizing the need for adapters.
Other hardware highlights include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, a 1080p webcam with a privacy shutter, a large glass trackpad, stereo speakers, and a backlit keyboard with a numpad. The device starts at $1,599 (discounted from $1,699), with the base configuration including 16 GB RAM and a 500 GB NVMe SSD, while higher configurations increase the price depending on selected upgrades and warranty options.
