Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS Released with Bug Fixes and Security Updates

Six months after the release of Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS, the Ubuntu team has officially announced the availability of Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS, now running on Linux kernel 6.17. This marks the fourth maintenance update in the Noble Numbat series, originally launched in April 2024.

Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS does not introduce any new user-facing features. Instead, it delivers accumulated bug fixes, security patches, and stability improvements since the initial 24.04 release, ensuring a more refined and reliable experience.

The primary package updates in this release include:

• Mesa 25.2.8
• LibreOffice 25.8.4
• Mozilla Firefox 147
• Snapd 2.73

Users currently running Ubuntu 24.04 LTS can upgrade to version 24.04.4 by simply executing:

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade

For those who prefer a clean installation, updated Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS ISO images are available for download.

All official Ubuntu flavors have also been refreshed to version 24.04.4, including Kubuntu, Ubuntu Budgie, Ubuntu MATE, Lubuntu, Ubuntu Kylin, Ubuntu Studio, Xubuntu, Edubuntu, and Ubuntu Cinnamon.

Ubuntu 24.04 LTS “Noble Numbat” continues to receive long-term support for five years, with standard security and maintenance updates guaranteed through April 2029. Users subscribed to Ubuntu Pro will receive extended security coverage through April 2034, along with critical patch support available until April 2036.
