Pangolin 1.16 Tunneled Reverse Proxy Adds SSH Auth Daemon
12views

The open-source remote access platform Pangolin has introduced version 1.16, bringing several enhancements focused on identity-driven access and platform usability.

One of the headline additions is a new SSH authentication daemon that ties SSH access directly to the platform’s identity framework. Instead of relying on long-lived static keys, administrators can now authenticate users through short-term certificates generated per session. This approach strengthens security while aligning SSH access with identity-based policies.

The daemon operates as a background service on infrastructure nodes and collaborates with Pangolin’s networking layer to validate login attempts. When a user connects, the system issues a signed certificate valid only for that session, ensuring tighter control over access.

The update also improves how users discover internal resources. Member and non-admin dashboards now display the private services they’re permitted to reach, providing clearer visibility without requiring elevated privileges.

Performance improvements are included as well. Large datasets are now handled with server-side pagination, filtering, sorting, and search, which reduces client load and makes management interfaces noticeably faster when dealing with extensive user lists or policies.

Customization options have expanded, allowing administrators to reference logos using full paths for more flexible branding. Additional usability tweaks include self-service account deletion from profile settings and an updated installer with clearer prompts to streamline deployment.
