What Is Omnissa Horizon 8?
Omnissa Horizon 8 is a virtual desktop (VDI) and published-application platform. A Horizon Client authenticates to a Connection Server, which brokers the session to a virtual desktop or app running the Horizon Agent — the core design described in Omnissa’s Horizon 8 overview. It is the same product that was called VMware Horizon: Broadcom spun its end-user computing business out as Omnissa in May 2024, and 2412 completes the move to Omnissa branding.
Most Horizon labs run on vSphere, so it helps to know the difference between the hypervisor and its manager — see our vSphere vs. vCenter breakdown and the vSphere 8.0 Update 3 download guide.
