Arch-Based Omarchy 3.6 Improves Panther Lake Efficiency

Omarchy 3.6 has been released, bringing a range of enhancements to this preconfigured Arch-based system that features the Hyprland along with a curated set of developer-friendly defaults and tools.
The highlight of this update is a custom 6.19.13 kernel with added Panther Lake patches, delivering improved efficiency on newer Intel laptops. Notably, idle power consumption can drop as low as 2W on a Framework 13 Pro and around 2.2W on a Dell XPS 16 OLED when using the Vantablack theme.
Display handling has also been refined. Users now get better control over the internal laptop screen when opening or closing the lid, and the system automatically restores the internal display if an external monitor is disconnected—even during sleep or after a reboot. Support for Thunderbolt displays on Intel systems has been improved, and new shortcuts have been added for hardware toggles and switching monitor focus.
On the desktop side, persistent toggles ensure that settings like window gaps and single-window layouts remain intact after Hyprland restarts. Additional updates include touchpad control with on-screen feedback, a new 1.25 scaling option, improved scaling navigation, smoother window movements and animations, and a true-black Vantablack theme tailored for OLED displays.
Internally, Omarchy has removed automated /home snapshots and dropped Btrfs quotas due to performance and storage concerns. Instead, it now keeps only the latest five /root snapshots for rollback after updates, while users who need home directory snapshots must configure them manually.
The release also fixes several issues, including update tool hangs when Chromium or Brave was not running, keyboard layout resets after refresh operations, non-persistent audio output switching, UI bugs in screen sharing overlays, theme-related inconsistencies, and application-specific problems affecting tools like Typora and iA Writer.
