VMware vSAN: Deploy and Manage V7 provides participants with the knowledge and skills to understand vSAN concepts, implement, configure, and manage vSAN-based Software-Defined Storage (SDS) environments. This course provides a thorough explanation of various vSAN architectures, including Hybrid and All-Flash configurations. Participants will learn about Storage Policies and how to use them to determine the performance and availability requirements of virtual machines.
This course discusses the improved performance of vSAN 6.6 compared to previous releases, particularly in reducing storage latency using server-side flash devices. It also introduces the new Health Check feature, which allows administrators to quickly view the health of a vSAN cluster and diagnose problems if they arise. It also covers the architecture of a vSAN cluster and its scalability, including the ability to add up to 64 nodes. More advanced features such as Stretched Clusters with Local Site Protection and Native Encryption of Persistent Data, designed to achieve higher availability and security with minimal CPU overhead, are covered in the Enterprise tiers. Data services such as Deduplication, Compression, and Erasure Coding are also covered in detail for All-Flash configurations in the Advanced and Enterprise tiers. Finally, the Quality of Service (QoS) feature in vSAN, which allows administrators to impose limits on the amount of IOPS consumed by specific virtual machines, will also be taught.
