What is Wazuh?
Wazuh is an open-source security monitoring platform used for SIEM and XDR workflows. It collects and analyzes endpoint data and supports log analysis, file-integrity monitoring, security configuration assessment, vulnerability detection and compliance monitoring.

| Wazuh server/manager | Receives and analyzes agent data, applies rules and generates alerts. | Central Linux server |
| Wazuh indexer | Stores and indexes security events for search and analysis. | Server infrastructure sized to event volume |
| Wazuh dashboard | Web interface for monitoring and investigation. | Browser-accessible management network |
| Wazuh agent | Collects and forwards endpoint telemetry. | Supported endpoint operating systems |
What changed in Wazuh 4.10.1?
The official release notes, dated January 16, 2025, list dashboard usability improvements and a manager-side fix.
- Number formatting: comma separators were added to dashboard numbers.
- Table field controls: field visibility in Events and Vulnerability Detection inventory tables moved from the Columns button to an Available fields button to improve view performance.
- Export styling: the Export formatted button color was aligned with other data-grid buttons.
- Indexer connector: the manager now handles HTTP
413responses from the Indexer connector.
Wazuh updates are cumulative. Consult the release notes and repository changelogs for the authoritative details.
System requirements and compatibility
Requirements depend on whether you are building a lab, a small monitored environment or a distributed production system. Endpoint count, ingestion rate, retention, enabled rules and indexing workload affect sizing.
- Check version-specific supported operating systems and CPU architecture.
- Size manager and indexer resources for event rate and retention; a lab VM may not be suitable for production.
- Use a supported browser and secure dashboard access with authentication and network controls.
- Choose the correct agent installer for each endpoint platform and architecture.
- Back up configuration and relevant data before upgrades.
Use the official Wazuh 4.10 installation guide for exact platform and deployment requirements.
Basic installation workflow
- Plan: choose lab, all-in-one or distributed deployment.
- Check compatibility: verify OS, architecture, memory, storage and connectivity.
- Install server components: follow the official version-specific installation instructions.
- Deploy agents: install matching endpoint packages and configure enrollment securely.
- Validate: check agent connectivity, event ingestion and dashboard visibility.
- Harden: restrict management ports, use TLS and strong credentials, and maintain backups and updates.
Do not reuse commands from a different Wazuh release without checking package names, repository configuration and upgrade compatibility.
Should you install Wazuh 4.10.1 today?
Use 4.10.1 when you need that exact version for compatibility, repeatable testing or a controlled environment. For a new production deployment, compare it with currently supported versions and security advisories first; later maintenance releases may include additional fixes.
